We have spent our second and third full day in Buenos Aires eating meat. This place is definitely not for vegans. After breakfast yesterday at our hotel (the Doubletree by Hilton), we waited in the upper lobby for our room to be made up. While waiting we met a couple on the same cruise as we are. After crossing the street and getting empanadas for lunch, we spent the afternoon resting.

We ordered an Uber and were amazed at how heavy the BA traffic is. Our destination was Fogon Restaurant on Gorriti for a 9 course asado dinner. It is a Michelin recommended restaurant and it was a truly amazing experience. There are about 36 patrons sitted around an open fire where everything is cooked.

We are posting the menu and hopefully the courses in order. Drooling is permissible.

Menu from Fogon
Eggplant with ricotta
Grilled provoleta with grilled fruit
Sweetbreads with tomatoes
Chorizo
Asado cooked in parchment
Pork flank steak with yellow chile sauce
Pine cone smoked ribeye cap
Ribeye with mashed sweet potatoes
Pancake with Dulce de Leche

It was an amazing experience. The meat was extremely tender and done to just the right temperature. If this was not enough, today, after sleeping until 10 thirty, we ubered over to Criolla cooking school, and had a three and a half hour hands on cooking class. Another amazing experience. We made several Argentine dishes and learned some good cooking tips. First we strted with a vermouth drink we made our selves and then moved on to chopping ribeye and vegetables for the empanadas we were to make.

Our hands were covered with chipa dough, raw meat, raw veggies, and empanaqda dough, so you will have to use your imagination of those tasks.

Cooking meat and veggies for empanadas
Chipas prep
Frying empanadas
Chipas
Empanadas
Ribeye, variety of Argentine potatoes, salad
Flan with Dulce de Leche, caramel, and whipped cream

Burp! Another wonderful experience. We are enjoying Buenos Aires much more this time than the last time we were here.

Uber back to thee hotel, me to blog and Alan to go for a long walk. Tomorrow we leave the hotel for embarkation on the Sapphire Princess and on overnight on her in BA before we start our journey. Until then, dream of this meat paradise!

Alan went for a 3 mile walk along Avenida del Libertador, past the train station some parks and the Facultad del Derecho (Law School) all the way to the Museo de Bellas Artes and back. It was warm and humid, but not uncomfortable.
