Amalia Glacier (February 18)
This morning we set the alarm and got up at 7:00 AM in order to put coats on over our robes and stand out on our balcony to see the majestic Amalia Glacier. The Southern tip of Chile consists of islands, fiords and glaciers and the ship pulled very close to this one and did a complete 360 turn so it could be seen from all areas of ship. We watched it until it was on the other side of the ship, showered, and went to breakfast for some much needed coffee.
After breakfast we went to the destination lecture about Ushuaia and Cape Horn and then heard a really good talk on Shackleton and his expedition to the South Pole. Lunch and then Alan went off to play soccer again and I watched TV. At sea days are usually pretty quiet, and this one was.
