A Walk in Copacabana (March 5)
BJ was down with a cold, so Alan took the hotel shuttle to Copacabana beach along with several others from our trip who were staying an extra day. Many of the group were departing today. The shuttle dropped us off about ½ way down the nearly 2 miles of beach. The Cleveland group I was with wanted to go shopping, so we headed off south to an address they were hunting. They didn’t find what they wanted, so we headed north again. After a stop at Starbucks, they headed back to the hotel, and I went to scout out the location of the bar where we were supposed to meet our food tour on Wednesday. I asked directions from someone on the beach, who after giving me directions, asked if I was looking for a woman. I said, “No thank you, I already have one.” After a few more blocks, I found the bar. I stopped for an orange juice and then got lunch of a Portuguese style chicken and rice which was very good and inexpensive and then headed to the Copacabana Palace Hotel to catch the shuttle back to the hotel.
I got back to the hotel around 3:30 and promptly started having cold symptoms. We decided to order pizza from a local restaurant with delivery. After eating we just went to bed.
