Ah, Sunday, the first of November.  How time flies.  Only two more weeks here and then back to reality.  Last time we visited Venice (2013), Alan spent one very rainy day on Sant’Elena Island watching the Venice soccer team play to victory.  Today there was a Venice game so, this time in beautiful weather, he took the vaporetto over to Sant’Elena and watched Venice play to a 0-0 tie. Alan said that at times his soccer team at home looked better.  Also, last time it took him an hour to get a ticket and he missed most of the first half of the game; this time it took one minute and didn’t require checking his identity against known rowdies.  In addition, there were no M-80 firecrackers exploding this time.  I enjoyed just staying in the apartment and reading the new Faye Kellerman book.

On the way to the vaporetto, Alan stopped and made reservations for dinner at Pane Vino e Daniele.  It’s another outstanding restaurant within 5 minutes of our apartment.  I am very surprised how easy it has been to find things opened on Sundays.  Before when we have visited, it was much more difficult to find opened restaurants, bars, etc.  This restaurant seems to have just meat dishes, no fish.  It was so good.  I know I sound like a broken record, but we have truly great meals here in Venice.

For those who will understand this, Alan gave the meal seven sneezes.
