We slept in until 8:30 and then had coffee and some puff pastry our landlord had left for us and that turned out to be savory not sweet.  We finished the last of the laundry and then headed out to explore.  Our flat is in the historic Rozsavolgyi Building, which was done in the Hungarian Secessionist style combining Hungarian Folk Art and Hindu motifs.

We set off down Vaci Utca, which is a pedestrian street with lots of restaurants, including Fatal Restaurant (food to die for) which has a somewhat ironic name, much like Sam and Ella’s Café, which we saw once in London off Oxford Street.

There are also innumerable souvenir shops on this street.  We ran into some friends who suggested the Anna Café just across the road from the Central Market, so we had lunch to avoid going into the Central Market hungry.  BJ had a Cobb Salad and I had a bowl of bean and sausage soup that was pretty good. After lunch we went into the Central Market and wandered up and down the aisles marveling at the beautiful produce and meats, and the architecture of the market.

Then we headed back to the apartment.

I walked to the metro station to pick up tickets for tomorrows cooking class.  When I got back to the apartment it became apparent that we had signed up for two simultaneous cooking classes with two different companies, so we had to cancel one.  Feeling a little bemused and befuddled, we just stayed in and had a simple dinner of sausage, cheese, olives and bread and some cookies that were similar to, but not as good as, some that we were taught to make when I was a kid.  Tomorrow we will go to the cooking class we didn’t cancel (kept the one that was within walking distance from our apartment), and then spend a little time figuring out where to go so that we can use the Metro tickets we now no longer need for the cooking class.
