Today was simply glorious. It was about 70 degrees Fahrenheit, clear, sunny, and with bright blue skies. We had checked the cruise ship arrival website and counted 7 ships in Venice today, so we decided to try to find a road less taken, and find it, we did. We headed down “our” canal toward San Trovaso Church, and went around the back of it onto Fondamenta Bonlini. There were very few people on that street, at times, none. I am not sure I have ever seen an empty street at 12 noon! It was wonderful. In the canal along the street were great reflections. There were also side canals with reflections too. Here are a few:

We continued down Fondamenta Ognisanti:

We then went around to Salizada San Basegio. Suddenly we found ourselves in the Campo San Anzolo Rafael where a restaurant, Pane, Vino, E San Daniele, was in front of us. We had eaten at the other Pane Vino the last time we were in Venice, and really wanted to try this one. We stopped and had an outstanding lunch, sitting outside, next to the Church under the blue skies. We started with crostini con bacala mantecato (pureed salt cod with olive oil). Then Alan had pasta e fagioli (pasta and bean soup) and I had crespelle con broccoli e aciuge (crepes with broccoli and anchovies). For dessert we shared crema di zucca con castagne (a pumpkin custard with preserved chestnuts). The meal was amazing.

We then continued walking down Fondamenta Briati, then onto Fondamenta Foscarini, and crossed into Campo dei Carmini.

We crossed Campo Santa Margherita and then home. Alan took a nap, I read and then we made pasta with roasted tomatoes, pesto, and burrata for dinner. A really great Sunday!

Tomorrow we will probably wander over to the Rialto for cheese and veggies, and maybe go to the TIM phone store to see about a mifi. More then, if the internet works.
